What you need to know

Susan Cowper, founder of TeaCosyFolk, has created a simple gnome hat designed for Innocent's Big Knit campaign.

Every year, knitters across the country pick up their needles and help to raise funds for Age UK, as part of the Innocent Big Knit campaign. Volunteers knit or crochet tiny woolly hats, which are placed on Innocent smoothie bottles and sold in supermarkets to help raise money for a great cause. If you would like to join in with this year's campaign, Susan Cowper from TeaCosyFolk has shared this simple gnome design. You'll also find patterns for an ice cream, a cactus and a cup and saucer too.

Need a hand? Designer Susan has also created a YouTube video to master decorative cast-off when finishing your gnome.

Meet the designer

Susan Cowper is the designer behind TeaCosyFolk, a world of character tea cosies that mix storytelling, sculptural knitting and a touch of mischief. Based in Newton Stewart, Scotland, she creates designs that turn teapots into tiny stages, each one with its own personality, posture and charm.

Her patterns are written to be enjoyable and achievable, with clear instructions, simple techniques and no chart colour work. Susan has published hundreds of designs, from seasonal characters to charity makes, and her work is known for bringing a bit of magic to everyday teapots.
